Simple Guidelines on Preparing Best Mans Speeches

by richard on Nov.02, 2009, under Uncategorized

It’s been said over and over again, being the best man is an honor. You have the privilege of being your friend or brother’s wing man during the most important day of his life. However, it’s not an easy position to be in. One of the most daunting tasks of being the best man is giving the toast. As this is an event that has been in the making for months, it will not do to just create your speech just before you are about to give it. A lot of thought must be done before creating best mans speeches. Fortunately, samples of best mans speeches are aplenty online. Consider this guideline as you prepare your speech.

1.      Relax and take it easy. Standing up and speaking in front of hundreds of guests can be nerve-wracking. However, this is a joyous event, a celebration of love; just relax before giving your speech and you will be fine.

2.      Insert a few jokes to make it fun. Since this is a celebration, it’s okay to insert a few jokes and funny anecdotes here and there in your speech. A hearty laugh is better than a bucket full of tears. Just make sure that your jokes are clean as bad jokes are not appreciated by people in general.

3.      Give marriage advices. If you’re married, share something about what you have learned in your own marriage. If you’re not married, talk about your observations about married people and how they made their relationship last.

4.      Finally, keep it short. Guests come to the wedding reception to enjoy and have fun. They don’t want to sit down and listen to long-winded speeches. Remember, this wedding is not about you, but about the bride and groom.
