What to Do When Your Husband Says He Wants a Divorce - These 5 Things Could Save Your Marriage

by richard on Mar.04, 2010, under Uncategorized

Sorry for not posting for  while. I was busy doing something else. Now I’ve come back to give  you tips. :)

The words have just left his mouth, and you sit there, open mouthed, shocked, devastated and with no clue how to respond. He said he is pretty sure he wants to end the marriage and mentioned the dreaded D word. You might think this is the end, and there is no coming back from this, but this doesn’t need to be the end if you are prepared to fight for your marriage. After all, if something is worth having, then it’s worth fighting for. But what should you do now you have found the devastating truth about how he feels about you and the marriage? Follow these 5 tips, and you are going to be in with a shot of holding on to your beloved marriage, and he may never utter the D word ever again.

1. Don’t make it clear that you are devastated about it. Yes, we both know you are, but he may see that as a sign of weakness and he may even be ‘testing’ you. Instead, say you are disappointed, but that ‘life goes on’. Try not to cry in front of him, and certainly don’t make things more dramatic by discussing it with friends and family when he is around.

2. Try and go on as normally as possible. Saying and doing are two very different things. Your husband may have told you he thinks he wants a divorce, but has he seen a lawyer? Do you have any papers yet? If not, it’s not over yet. Go through your day to day life as you normally would. Yes, it’s difficult, but it’s not impossible.

3. Take the pressure off the marriage. What I mean by this is don’t be tempted to try and suddenly change into what you think he wants. Instead, try and spend some time together in a kind of ‘friends’ capacity. Try to just get along well for now. I’d also recommend no kissing or physical intimacy.

4. Spend some more time doing things outside of the marriage. Maybe you can spend more time with friends or pursuing your hobbies and interests. I absolutely DO NOT mean flirting with other men just to make him jealous or any of that monkey business. That’s just childish and will come back to bite you.

5. Let the dust settle. He very well might have said what he said in the heat of the moment, or after a period of frustration or anger. Even if he felt he really meant it, a period of reflection may do wonders in terms of him realizing he was being irrational and overreacting. Don’t ask him why, don’t keep pushing him for answers. Just let it be for now.

If you can manage to follow these steps, you are going to be in a position of power, rather than a victim who is left devastated. However, there is still an issue to resolve. Why did he say such a thing in the first place? The chances are that it was because your marriage isn’t working as well as it should. What you need to do now is start working on the entire marriage so this never happens again and you are both happy.

Simple Guidelines on Preparing Best Mans Speeches

by richard on Nov.02, 2009, under Uncategorized

It’s been said over and over again, being the best man is an honor. You have the privilege of being your friend or brother’s wing man during the most important day of his life. However, it’s not an easy position to be in. One of the most daunting tasks of being the best man is giving the toast. As this is an event that has been in the making for months, it will not do to just create your speech just before you are about to give it. A lot of thought must be done before creating best mans speeches. Fortunately, samples of best mans speeches are aplenty online. Consider this guideline as you prepare your speech.

1.      Relax and take it easy. Standing up and speaking in front of hundreds of guests can be nerve-wracking. However, this is a joyous event, a celebration of love; just relax before giving your speech and you will be fine.

2.      Insert a few jokes to make it fun. Since this is a celebration, it’s okay to insert a few jokes and funny anecdotes here and there in your speech. A hearty laugh is better than a bucket full of tears. Just make sure that your jokes are clean as bad jokes are not appreciated by people in general.

3.      Give marriage advices. If you’re married, share something about what you have learned in your own marriage. If you’re not married, talk about your observations about married people and how they made their relationship last.

4.      Finally, keep it short. Guests come to the wedding reception to enjoy and have fun. They don’t want to sit down and listen to long-winded speeches. Remember, this wedding is not about you, but about the bride and groom.

Headpiece & Veil

by richard on Aug.18, 2009, under Articles, Wedding Articles

Bridal headpieces and veils have been worn in wedding ceremonies for centuries, and can be found in different forms in many different cultures and religions.

The Bridal Headpiece

Bridal headpieces come in many different shapes and sizes. They can be made of many different types of metal, gems and faux stones like diamonds or diamante, beaded strings, or even out of natural materials such as flowers or silk imitations.

The definition of a bridal headpiece is simply “a crown, headband or tiara worn around the forehead”. Traditionally, the bridal headpiece was made from a thin band of metal, but as technical processes have developed there are many different options available to the bride on her special day.

Examples of popular bridal pieces are increasingly leaning towards the tiara. This is possibly because it is more comfortable to wear, and can be pinned into the hair style for increased comfort and security reference slippage. The history of the tiara has roots in Persia, and was originally based upon the crowns worn by the Kings and the Emperors. At this time the crown, or tiara, was usually constructed from leather which was richly embellished. They also were usually decorated with other natural fibers such as feathers, horns or jewels.

Bridal head pieces are often utilized in conjunction with bridal wedding veils, but can also quite happily be worn on their own. There are also several other similar products available on the market which are loose adaptations, including pins, clips and flowers that can be twined into the brides hair to create a similar, yet slightly more subtle and understated effect.
